The Classic City’s Catalyst: Harmonizing Research, Workforce, and Infrastructure for a Global Life Sciences Hub will explore how strategic investment, workforce development, and innovation are positioning Athens-Clarke County as a destination for advanced biomanufacturing and life sciences growth.
The discussion will highlight the region’s momentum, including Meissner Corporation’s $250 million manufacturing investment and the collaborative efforts of local leaders to strengthen infrastructure and workforce pipelines. Panelists will also examine initiatives like Athens Achieves and the role of the University of Georgia in advancing workforce training through programs such as National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL).
From lab bench discoveries to global supply chains, the session will explore how Athens’ research institutions, innovation ecosystem, and economic development partnerships are working together to accelerate commercialization, strengthen supply chains, and position the region as a global hub for life sciences innovation—followed by ample time to continue the conversation and connect with colleagues across the life sciences community.
